March 2018: Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at John F. Kennedy University

Congratulations to The Sanford Institute of Philanthropy at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. The Institute joined the Funding Information Network in 2016, and is entering its third year of service in the Greater Bay Area providing core training in many areas related to fundraising and capacity building.

This year, the Institute is launching a Fundraising Academy to a cohort of 15 small to medium-sized nonprofit organizations. Each organization will have two participants that include an executive director or development director and a board member. The Academy offers a curriculum of courses in fundraising that include fundamentals, models, strategies, and components for creating a sustainable fundraising and philanthropy program. As a FIN member, nonprofits are utilizing the the Institute to do research on funding opportunities.

The Institute also holds an annual summit and has partnered with the Foundation Center West to organize this convening. The Institute provides seminars, webinars, lunch and learn sessions throughout the year. The Institute shared that they are experiencing phenomenal growth and increased visibility and the services provided are having a huge impact. The Contra Costa Board of Supervisors recently passed a resolution honoring their work.
